Cookies

A banner exists to ask permission for cookies that are not necessary — the ones that count visitors, follow them between sites or sell what they looked at. This site has none of those, so there is nothing to ask. Being asked anyway, on a site that is not watching you, would be theatre.

These pages are fixed files with no analytics, no advertising and no third-party script of any kind. The typefaces come from this domain. Nothing is written to your browser's storage, and nothing you type into the enquiry form leaves your device until you send the email yourself.

There is a difference worth knowing between a cookie a site chose and one the infrastructure underneath it sets to stay standing. The site is served by Cloudflare, which can place a small number of strictly necessary cookies — telling automated traffic from real visitors, or remembering that a visitor has already passed a security check. They carry no advertising purpose and are not used to build a profile of you.

Which of them appears depends on the security settings in force at the time, so the list is not fixed. Cloudflare publishes what each one does. Cookie data of this kind may be processed outside the UK, which their privacy policy covers.

Some links here lead off the site — the directions button opens Google Maps, and there are links to Facebook, to Visit England, and to the listings on Airbnb and Booking.com. Nothing is requested from any of them while you are reading this site. Once you follow one, you are on their site and their cookies apply, not ours.

Every browser lets you block or delete cookies in its own settings. Blocking the security ones can stop a site loading properly, which is the trade you are making. Nothing on this site needs a cookie in order to be read.
